Parks & Recreation

Have you heard that Pierson Township is in the process of acquiring land behind the township hall for Pierson Township to have Park & Recreation opportunities.

The land survey has been done and we will begin planning for PARK for Pierson!

Fundraising has begun for the park and for a fence. The park land needs a fence to divide the adjoining fields. The fence estimates are looking to be around $25K depending on material costs. Looking to 2022 for excavating and fence installation.

The Recreation Plan is in place, so the next step is to preliminary plan what scope of recreation and equipment that would fit the space available (approximately 5 acres).  Then the Parks & Recreation Committee will begin the grant requests from the DNR for some funds!

Currently the Township has $110,542.33 from a previous years donation.

The township board allocated $9K with the intent of adding to the buy-in on the grant request for the paving of the White Pine Trail on March 30, 2021.

The P&R Committee has begun fundraising and the Holiday Event held on 11/13/2021 raised $384.00.

Currently there is a Pop Can for Parks Drive going on. There are clean trash totes outside the township hall for donations of cans & bottles.  To date there have been 2069 cans donated. {$206.90]

There is a Paint for Parks event on December 2 and a second painting event scheduled for January 20, 2022. Click here for event invite for the December event. Watch for updates for amount raised and January event information.
