To all Pierson Property owners:

 

A state requirement is to periodically update pictures of all property parcels. 

We are taking an aggressive approach to

meet this state requirement by the end of the year.  Either our Assessor or his assistant will be performing this task. 

 

They will carry identification of being a Pierson official and/ or their vehicle will also be marked as such.  Should you see anyone on your property taking pictures and are concerned, please ask for identification and it will be provided promptly.

We would like to put further clarity into our initiative to update pictures of property within Pierson Township by answering some common questions;

 

  1. What are the requirements?  The State of Michigan requires that all townships maintain a record of every structure within the township.  The standard for parcel inspection is a minimum of once every 5 years. Our hope is that we might come into compliance by the spring of 2022.   We respect your privacy and will do our best to accommodate your request for an appointment. 

  2. Isn’t this trespassing?  No, one is not trespassing when they are on property for the sole purpose of performing a required function.  No more is an electric or gas employee trespassing when they go on your property to read a meter.

  3. Is this an effort to increase taxes?  No, there are specific state rules and formulas that taxes are based off of.

  4. Can we provide our own pictures?  Yes, it would be a huge help!  If you would like to assist us by photographing and submitting pictures yourself, please send a picture of the front and back of your home plus one photo each of any additional buildings. If the property is vacant, a picture indicating such will also be needed. Please email to: assessor@piersontwp.org.  If you would prefer to visit me personally, I will be in the township office on Tuesdays from 9:00 – 2:00.

  • The Pierson Township Board closed on the Refinance of the Little Whitefish Sewer Bond from the Montcalm County Drain Commission on April 8, 2021. ​​Spring Billings for LWL & BWL were sent from the County Drain Office: SEWER PAYMENTS WILL NOW BE SENT TO PIERSON TOWNSHIP.

  • Parks & Recreation Plan is available for viewing at the Township or on the Parks & Recreation page.  
  • Access Property Taxes online.
 
  • Tax payments, may be dropped in the drop box at the front of the township building.  They are also accepted at Independent Bank.  You must bring the tax bill.
  • Township Board Meetings: 2021 Meetings will be the third Tuesday, with exception of November & December 2021.  Calendar has been updated. All meetings are open to the public.
  • The Master Plan has been adopted and getting ready to print. Contact the clerk if you have questions. 616-636-8570 during business hours. 
  • The Zoning Board of Appeals meets as needed. Nothing scheduled to date.
  • Planning Commission - Meetings for 2021 will be January 14 meeting was postponed until February 11, 2021 for a Public Hearing for Incidental Buildings and Wind Zones at 7 pm (regular meeting after public hearing), April 15, July 15 and October 14 at 7 pm. 
  • Parks & Recreation Committee 2021 Meetings are Thursdays at 4:30 pm: April 8, May 13, June 19, July 8, August 12, and September 9. Want more information? Join us.
  • Community & Economic Growth Committee. Meetings are Thursdays at 3 pm pm:  February 11, March 11, April 8, May 13, June 10, July 8, August 12, September 9, October 14. Additional meetings may be scheduled if needed for events. Want more information? Join us.
  • Road Committee meetings will be Wednesdays: January 13, March 9, April 14, July 14. The October 13 meeting was removed from the schedule. Road meetings are at 7 pm. 
  • Meeting minutes are available for review at the Township hall, and posted once approved at the following meeting. If you are unable to view, please email the clerk or come visit the Clerks office during business hours.
  • Pierson Township Hall is available for rental. Please contact the Clerk office for availability. $75 Rental fee for residents; $100 Rental fee for Non-Residents and $50 deposit (returned after inspection).​​ There is now a meeting rate. Click for the new contract* Hall rentals will honor current state guidelines.

  • Election Information: Please contact the Clerk if you wish to be placed on the permanent Absentee Voter List.  Available to all voters due to 18-3. Once on the list an application will be mailed to voter. Once request is completed and returned to the Township, a ballot will be mailed in secretive brown envelope with instructions on how to complete and return (return envelope included).
